Soviet Era Iconography The City Of Komsomol Na Amur, Part One, A Photo Essay


Above, a statue of Yuri Gagarin, first cosmonaut in the world, at the entrance of a park named in his honor.


I shot these photos in the city of Komsomol Na Amur during the summer of 2015. My intention was to share what remains there of the iconography that once defined the Soviet-era visual aesthetic. 














Memorial for the dead of World War Two who hailed from the city and its surrounding region.  











Above, hundreds of names of those soldiers who died, etched into stone in alphabetical order.
